New Install on my Desktop to replace the broken one (Asus Micro Box a couple of posts up).
Vista is staying on here in case the wife wants to use this.

I guess it is good to know how well it is working for you. I like learning something
new at least once a day. It is seeing all 4 gig of ram also. So pae i486 32bit? Or am I wrong?
Cuz some old gear cpus do not support or boot pae kernels.

Not to be a hall monitor, cuz I really could care less, but i486 32bit on a I5?Looks like I'm using the CPU less now. More efficient?

I know some of the older cpus squawk at pae kernels. I found that out the hard way. __{{emoticon}}__
I'm comfortable at 32 bit. __{{emoticon}}__ I'll gradiate to 64 bit soon. It's all part of my edumacation. (Mis-spelling done on porpoise for effects.)rokytnji wrote: I guess it is good to know how well it is working for you. I like learning something

Okay roky. It's ALIVE!.
We have made him faster, stronger, and more handsome. __{{emoticon}}__ Truly, this kernel seems more efficient. It's hard to get the cpu to read on conky above 9% regardless what I throw at it. Sure, maybe an i5 and 4Gb memory is overkill (?), but feels like the old 429 Mustangs. Swift and deadly.
I also redid the kernel on the JUNKBOX but I have it turned off and put away for now. (I ran out of room on the wife's sewing table. She actually wants to sew on it now.)
