initV +SLiM +multipleWMs is (for me) a precious differentiator between antix 13.x and the myriad other Debian-derived distros.

Even if avoiding systemd necessitates building from Wheezy + security backports, or requires extensive apt-pinning,
preserving choice (multiple WMs) and diversity (freedom from The systemd Borg Collective) represents a noble, and worthy, goal.

The latest alpha2 uses sysvinit and we will attempt to keep it that way for final.

I dislike systemd and the udev it rode in on. I've told antiC that if we are ever forced to use systemd then I will do my best to try to make our stuff work with it with minimal degradation.

The system (the distro) must come with systemd (to be installed).
A change from sysvinit after systemd is crap.

Accordingly, I must in future after installing antiX14 make the system tight. So me no packets of systemd be installed?

What? You have trouble reading the innovative binary log files? IMO that was a great big SCREW-YOU from the devs to users everywhere. If I were in charge, not only would they be fired for that, they might also get roughed up one night in a dark alley. I take that back. The world might be a better place if it happened but I don't condone violent solutions. Still, it feels like you need to catch them in the act and rub their noses in it or they will never learn. My theory is they are working for the NSA. Their task is to make Linux just as unpleasant and difficult to work with as Windows. The Unity projects seems to have a similar plan.

Isn't adding systemd, post-install, much easier than trying to remove it? Could systemd be easily added from a live session + antixsnapshot?
(I doubt it could be removed. It's certainly not"easily removable" from MX14.)

If the apparent systemd/udev...kdbus agenda doesn't scream"Borg Collective" to you, at least consider that when we don't"bother" to preserve choice and diversity, we wind up with scenarios like ~~ desktop applications like Krita (drawing app) or Kdiff3 (diff tool) which contain hard (ridiculous) dependencies on the 400Mb+ KDE4 stack. (Thankfully, KDE seems to have recognized the error of its (all or nothing) Borg -ishness. They are now promising that, in KDE5, applications developed by the KDE project will be"more loosely coupled".)

Maybe, but if it refuses to recognize my keyboard settings, and as I don't have a US Keyboard to hand, it doesn't work for me. Gentoo is the same - Set your keyboard to whatever you like, and it defaults back to a US Keyboard.

If an OS can't handle the keyboard, what happens if I have any unusual hardware? __{{emoticon}}__
