If I see this correctly, the antiX repo is missing in your output of inxi -r. Thus it's no wonder your attempt to install simplescreenrecorder from the metapackage installer throws the error"Unable to locate package simplescreenrecorder".

Does the file /etc/apt/sources.list.d/antix.list exist on your system? If so, does it contain the (not out-commented) line

Code: Select all

deb http://repo.antixlinux.com/jessie jessie main nosystemd

That repo may be causing breakage and why you can't install simplesoundrecorder.

Yes you will.  You have to choose between disabling automatic updates for those apps or voiding the warranty on the rest of your system.   Maybe there is a distro that enables the kxstudio ppa's by default.   That would be the way to go if you want those apps to get updated automatically.   You would run into the same problem if you switched to our repos while using a different distro.   There is no way the other distro could support our repos.   When you use someone else's repos then it is basically a different distro and all bets are off.    We can't support a distro we know nothing about and have no experience with.

Hi everyone,
since the KXStudio repos are available for Debian, I thought they would be fine to use with AntiX too. (So far I haven't had any problems. On the contrary..!)

Here's what my antix.list file shows:

Code: Select all

# Use with Debian Stable/Jessie repositories. Set as default for antiX-16.
# deb http://ftp.cc.uoc.gr/mirrors/linux/mx/antix/jessie/ jessie nosystemd main
# Use with Debian Testing repositories.
# deb http://ftp.cc.uoc.gr/mirrors/linux/mx/antix/testing/ testing nosystemd main
# Use with Debian Sid repositories.
# deb http://ftp.cc.uoc.gr/mirrors/linux/mx/antix/sid/ sid main nosystemd
Should I unmark the first one (jessie nosystemd main) ?  (nb. I've never modified this file before.)

My default never changed.

This is weirder and weirder.  Me on AntiX 15 and not even getting these kind of error messages even. But then. I don't use

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get upgrade
but use

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
instead.

Code: Select all

$ sudo apt-get -f install

I guess I should mention. In case I run a Ubuntu ppa in my repos. Like on my touchscreen netbook to grab a onscreen touch screen keyboard.
After I install it. I comment out that Ubuntu repo when doing regular AntiX dist-upgrades. If I need to update the onboard keyboard. I go to site where the maintainer hosts it and read the change logs first. Before re-enabling that ppa.

FWIW, I tested just now (antix16+jessie), upgraded"smxi-inxi-antix" package. Success. (no KEYEXPIRED message)

Hi all,
well, I don't know why the issue when adding the new repo line, but it's less important to me than just going with the apps that I already know I have available. So I guess I'll stick with what I have and post the issues I'm having with apps that are already installed (or that seem installable).
Thanks!
