Howdy all,

Been trying out the Xfce Alpha. Don't seem to be able to get software to
install while using it as a live CD. Is installing software allowed while using
the live CD or only when installed on the Hard Drive ?.

Maybe I should just break down and install it on my Hard drive, it's not like it's going to take that much space. In that cse will my current GRUB pick up on it ? I have never tried to run two distros at the same time. Currently dual booting Fedora 8 and XP.

You should be able to install software on the livecd if you use the aufs option at the grub menu.
BUT only for that session. As soon as you reboot, you lose the downloaded stuff.

I don't know if your current grub will pick up antiX. If it doeasn't and you install antiX grub to root, then in Fedora, you can just copy over the line in antiX's boot/grub/menu.lst.

It will be something like this:

title MEPIS at sda4, kernel 2.6.22-1-mepis-smp
root (hd0,3)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.22-1-mepis-smp root=/dev/sda4 nomce quiet splash vga=791
boot

Hi,

No problem with it going away with each reboot I just want to check out
programs ahead of a hard drive install. I'll look for the aufs option next time
I boot Anti-X. If I do a hard drive install I will report on how grub handles it.

I'd also like to say how much I like Anti-X. I must have 50 iso's sitting above my monitor on a shelf, many of them attempts at light desktops but it's Anti-X that I'm spending my time with.
