Today there was an update of a few packages including apt and apt-utils. These two packages will remove synaptic. Synaptic now has a new libc6 dependency that is not installable at the moment. I'm sure it will be fixed shortly.

Heads up.

Thanks for the headsup.

This is now corrected. If you upgraded and lost Synaptic, it will now reinstall for you. I didn't think it would take long.

I assume this has not been fixed?

apt-get synaptic does not fix it. This is on a fresh install, update, and upgrade that failed in the middle of running synaptic.

It was for me. How about apt-get install synaptic. You didn't include"install" in your post, I assume you did it in the terminal as well.

That's what I get for trying to depend on my memory. Forgot the install.
