to install aand build a custom antiX, now it's just the way I like it. I've got XFCE and fluxbox, along with almost everything else he put in there, although I don't see anything comical, opaque, or crystal about the same cursors that are in the full version of antiX. Now there's not too much excess baggage or apps that will be unusable, and its based on testing rather than sid. I just have a couple of questions.
1. I know nothing about the Trinity KDE, is it something that I should uncomment in the sources? Do I need it for anything?
2. I'm planning to slim it down even further, so how do I get rid of all of the different 'locales' that are of no use to me, I only speak American English. Do I have to go to some file and get the names and then 'apt-get remove' or 'apt-get purge' to rid myself of them or can that be done by editing a file with nano?

1. trinity kde isn't included in debian, but have a look at this

I now have antiX on both partitions, that may change - I had no end of grief when I dist-upgraded using apt-get so I reinstalled rather than slim down the install. This time I have slimmed it down as I built it, and dist-upgraded using smxi. That allowed me to remove all the extra locales, plus to get rid of a lot of other 'cruft' and orphans. No grief so far!

NOW I got grief __{{emoticon}}__ __{{emoticon}}__ __{{emoticon}}__

When I log in, I get a XFCE box that asks if I want to keep the same session or start a new one. If I click on the same, it does nothing. If I click on a new one, it demands a name __{{emoticon}}__ Why can't it just log in as usual? I've also lost my log out possiblilties. I have to use a terminal to log out now - what's up __{{emoticon}}__ I've never had this kind of problem with antiX before. and this is happenng on both installs, antiX-base and antiX-core (beefed up). Did XFCE all of a sudden go down the tubes? I've dist-upgraded both of them with smxi to prevent any problems, but it seems that I'm gonna get problems anyways!

I'm wondering if I should just reinstall or download the login manager again. What login manager comes default with antiX base and core? Isn't it slim?

Should I consider installing gdm or something else?

SLIM is the default login manager with Antix. You could try purging xfce4 & then reinstalling it:

apt-get remove --purge xfce4
Then run apt-get update & see if you have any messages for packages that are no longer required (due to purging xfce4) & purge these packages too & then reinstall xfce4.

I installed LightDM, everything seemed to go good, but at the end, I got this:

PLUS; when I removed and purged XFCE4, I got this response:

and yet I go through an xfce session every time I start up the computer __{{emoticon}}__ __{{emoticon}}__

I have found yet another oddity; Yesterday, I downloaded another distro and PC-BSD, just to put them on USB drives to play around with them- I downloaded on my antiX-base install, and it is showing up in my antiX-base AND on my antiX-core install __{{emoticon}}__ If everything I download on one is going to be on the other, that means that the core install is puffing up the base install and vicey-versy. Maybe it's not a good idea to have two antiX installs? I'm wondering how the downloads can cross between two separate partitions, I wiped the whole hard drive and then re-partitioned prior to installing these two antiX installs, but I've never heard of downloads 'leaking' from one partition to another. Any comments?

Your Antix-Base & Full seem to both be sharing the same home partition. This always causes problems with settings.

You can ignore the firmware errors now you have the non free drivers installed. If you look in /lib/firmware/tigon you will see the files are there

I don't understand why my responses to this here thread are somehow disappearing, but to try saying it all again;

I have now dumped the antiX-core and replaced it with a different Debian-clone distro so the two don't get entangled again.

I did install LightDM to the antiX-core (which downloaded/installed on both antiX partitions without having to apt-get but on the antiX-core only), but it made no difference to logging in or out - same-o, same-o __{{emoticon}}__ __{{emoticon}}__

BTW, the two antiX installs were on totally different partitions - no common /home partition was set up! I've not heard that a download can bleed/leak over from one partition to another __{{emoticon}}__

I am currently in the process of either reinstalling the antiX-base or replacing it with an antiX-full in that partition, but that's in a new thread.
