Hi,

got a big problem that makes me stuck infront of my notebook the whole day.
Wanted to try antiX 7.2 today just like a live-cd. Well, tried it like I did with all the other distros, but it never ever worked. First tried with the"normal" 7.2, than with the 7.2 base. But always the same things accured: If I try the normal installation, the screen turns black an the optical drive stops working. With the other ways of installation (without net etc.) it starts to load the kernel but just seconds after that it says: MP-BIOS Bug: 8254 timer is not connected to IO-APIC. That's it, and nothing else happens.

So what's the matter? It's a new Toshiba Satellite with Turion64 x2, 2 GB ram, 15,4"

Not sure if will work for you but try to add noapic to the boot options at the bottom of the grub screen. Maybe nolapic.
(i think it's noapic, I would have to check)

Thanx, I tried noapic choosing the first mode of installation, but still black screen. Do I have to choose something different?

no acpi is a good one to try too.

found a solution: just type acpi=off
that's it.
