topic title: antiX won't shutdown

I'm running antiX 8.5 and when I go to shutdown it ends at a login prompt instead of shutting down. How do correct this ?

Can you run in terminal
inxi -F
and paste results so we can see your hardware,etc.

Just curious vinoman. Does it shut down as root user in terminal with the command

You have to set in ~/.icewm/preferences

does not shut down. I get the welcome and antiX login:
and I can't type anything.
last spring I installed antiX 8.5 and didn't have this problem, maybe its the updates. who knows??

what does as root in terminal
give you also. It should reboot I think. Also. Do you have"acpi" and"acpi-tools" installed in synaptic. Maybe a upgrade removed them maybe. If"apm" is installed instead. Then acpi and acpi-tools should not be needed.
Edit: Just to test. I just rebooted with the command on my Asus 900 running 8.5 and no problems. At one time a while back. I had problems with shutting down and rebooting after a upgrade including logging out via the gui shutdown window (stop button etc...) I was able to shutdown though using the Menu>Logout>Shutdown option. Later either another upgrade or something fixed it automagically.

You might try to install the liquorix kernel via smxi and see how it handles the shutdown issue,

I also encountered this problem. I installed antiX 8.5 onto an 8GB SD card on my EEE PC 900. After a full post-installation system update (using synaptics), I could not shutdown/logout from the Menu. Now I can only shutdown the EEE PC by issuing"sudo shutdown -h now" in a terminal.

Try these commands in ~/.icewm/preferences
Restart icewm for them to take effect.

from the top of my mind maybe you have the halevt bug.
halevt causes a very slow reboot/halt. Fix: Comment out halevt & from ~/.fluxbox/startup and ~/.icewm/startup files.
when i had halevt enabled the system will drop in to tty1 and not shutdown for a minute or two. HTH.

Ice,
This is a great suggestion since I've noticed that my 8.5 systems take a LONG time to shutdown. Maybe a minute or more (at first I also thought it was not shutting down and I would just kill it out of impatience). I'll try to comment out the halevt stuff and see if it improves.

Secipolla's suggestion works for me. Many thanks!
But the Quit button on the Icewm menubar still doesn't do the work. Seem that something is wrong with the exitantix.sh file.
