hi,
I'm new antix user... i love this distro, but on my laptop there is a serious problem:

Medion Sim2000 (MSI S250/S260):
Intel Celeron M 1.4GHz
1MB L2 cache
SiS 661MX + SiS 963L
BIOS AMI
Video SiS M661MX
HDD Toshiba PATA (MK4025GAS ) 40GB
Network Connections SiS 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter
Ralink M2500 MiniPCI WLAN
Audio SiS 7012 Audio Device
I/O Port 3 x USB 2.0 Ports
1 x IEEE 1394 Port
1 x Mic-in Port
1 x Headphone Out
1 x RJ45 Ethernet Connector
1 x RJ11 Modem Connector
1 x PCMCIA 2.1 Compliant Type

on the startup phase:

in normal boot, when appear the text:"updating fstab... done" the notebook locks... i tried to wait for a long time but nothing has happened.

in failsafe boot, the situation is different: the system surpass the lock on the message"updating fstab...done", but the boot process fails with a kernel panic:
EIP:[<e884df87>] isl38xx_in_queue+0xb/0x56 [prism54] ss:esp 0068:c0491f28
kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception in interrupt

i think that the wifi card module creates a problem...

i'm sad __{{emoticon}}__
anyone already know this kind of problem?
the only one solution that i think possible is to set some parameters at boot time for ignore the wifi card problem... instead for the lock in normal boot i'm without ideas...

last week I've installed the last mepis and recognized all my hardware... strange?

i hope that anyone can help me...
thanks!

My laptop locks up with a lot of distros. Sometimes using the cheatcode"noscsi" works well if your drive is sata. Use the extra options option when grub loads and append the cheatcode, without quotes, at the end. (This worked on the last distro I previewed, but I still ran into an error while starting avahi near the end of the boot process. That I haven't figured out yet.) Anyway, good luck.
