Good decision, anti. I don't see that the inclusion of all three of these has any large space impact; we've had all of them around for several years now, and each of the three network managers seems to have their own following. No reason to change what works for members of our community.

I suggest abiword or lyx a pretty good alternative.
I am basing this of the 2012 lyx i still cannot install tar.gz files

Instead of getting rid of apps why not set up a dummy package in the repo to install all these after the installation so you can just load the iso with all the drivers and have a seperate iso with all the apps preinstalled

I know '13' is out, but, just as an aside; 'full' is likely to be the version ex Windows/Ubuntu users are going to pick when they move over. My 'other distro' has lost cdrom support & it is causing a few problems, so I say, do whatever is neccessary to maintain a cdrom sized installation media.

I get what you are saying but instead of one size fits all with all the window managers why not have a seperate download so the person can have a choice because I know most window managers take lots of space when they need all there dependencies.

Why not move to a DVD edition for -full as that will solve this issue and such ISO's can be used on usb sticks for those machines that can boot from USB. The cd-sized ISO should be as minimal yet reasonably functional to use as a recovery cd as well as a basic live-cd.

I vote to remove all but samba (just keep smbclient and smbnetfs parts) for and yes keep just a few themes and have the others in some sort of extra themes package for those who want them. As all the items 1-5 are just an apt-get away so it should be not an issue eliminating these. As Abiword and gnumeric can open Libreoffice documents they can be used in a pinch for quick edits for such docs so I can say let just put those for office apps on the CD

I agree with DeepDayze here while I stand by my idea for seperate desktop downloads

wicd has both wicd-curses and wicd-cli as optional packages so it is quite usable from the command line and does not need X to work.

Nothing against ceni but wicd is pretty much all-in-one.

But whereas wicd is"pretty much" all-in-one, ceni really is __{{emoticon}}__ and can configure not only wireless networks and it also doesn't need X. But as anticapitalista said" ceni, wicd and rutilut are all staying". A wise decision __{{emoticon}}__ adn I hope it'll stay that way.
