Aumix - Very odd?

Hi.

Really odd thing, I removed ICEWM and now in Fluxbox, I seem to have lost aumix. I put a link in my menu and it opened up the GUI version. But now nothing happens. In terminal I get"aumix: error opening mixer: No such file or directory"

I tried reinstalling aumix-gtk, and also installing aumix, but nothing. Well annoying! [p.s. sound is all fine and works].

Thank you.
Abbas.

There must be something with a recent update. Sound is working fine but absvolume as well as all other mixers do not open(no mixer device)?

I just opened an mp3 with xmms and it's volume works fine, song plays??????

I found a solution on the dreamlinux forum.

1. install alsa-oss and oss-compat packages
2. su(x) to root and then type modprobe snd_mixer_oss
3. try opening aumix from the menu
4. You might need to reboot or do steps 5 and 6.
5. /etc/init.d/aumix stop
6. /etc/init.d/aumix start

If it does work you will need to add the module at boot.

menu>>run>>gksu leafpad /etc/modules

Add snd_mixer_oss to the bottom of the list, save and close. The fix will now work after a reboot.
