Hi all,

Here are instructions for borking Lysistrada by trying to install the"LTmodem" module for an earlier version of the Linux kernel:

Simply go outside the repos, download and try to install the wrong module. The install will fail partway through, will not be reversible, and will disable any subsequent file downloading.

Good luck, and enjoy your borking.

(Maybe I should put this in the"tips and tricks" section?)

P.S. In my defense, I'd tried to get the right module (Martian-modem) to install and work through synaptic. I got the files but could do nothing with them and online instructions about compiling from source are vague.

The lesson for me is to (a) beware fudging with older versions of modules and (b) get hold of a serial modem for dial up.

Thanks for the tip. I just might have a go myself.
