I am trying Antix for my Solar powered PC (Alix.1c - needs only 7W) - it is a Geode LX 800 Processor with integrated FPU and AMD Geode CS5536 Chipset

I tried all possibilities - failsave, vesa ... X is not starting - is there a possibility to install it in Text mode?

Just from a quick search, I don't see any reason why Antix would not boot into X. I would guess that it was just a bad burn. Maybe try to reburn the cd at a slower speed, 4X and retry.

I have not tried this and don't know if it will work but....If you are at a login prompt try to login with user--demo, password--demo. If you get logged in su to root with password--root. If you are still ok type minstall and see if it will give you a text base install. Who knows it just might work?????

it is a bit strange -

with puppy I cannot use xorg, but Vesa - but it seems, that it is something different the xorg with the vesa module

is there a possibility to download the amd module of xorg? with wget? I will try this

Try changing vesa to fbdev at grub/menu
ie
xdrvr=fbdev

Or set the monitor resolution to something else.
You can do this by editing the /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Or dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

What does the Puppy xorg file look like?

There is no grub menu jet, because I am on the console after booting the CD - I can modify xorg.conf - so I tried to use aptget, but this does not work, because apt-get update loads everything, but does not extract it - so the easiest would have been"apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-amd".

I do not find the address of the antiX repository to get"xserver-xorg-video-amd" - to install it with ipkg - where shall I take it from?

There is a grub menu when booting from the livecd. When you choose your options, type xdrvr=fbdev for the default one.

You should be able to
apt-get update
apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-amd

from the Debian repos that antiX uses in /etc/apt/sources.list
