Good day!
I have created image of my installed antiX-16 system using iso-snapshot. Because it is my first attempt to create image using this program, I have not changed any default options except excluding Video folder. Image was created with md5sum file. After md5 verification I wrote this image on USB flash drive using dd.
The USB drive booted, passed checkmd5 and after some messages, which were flying very fast, so I haven't catched them, the booting stopped, and all I had is black screen with nothing on it. After 10 minutes no changes, only monitor entered to energy saving mode.
Then I thought, maybe it was dd fault, so I burned created image ISO on DVD. DVD was verified on readability using dvdisaster. Booted from DVD, but situation remained the same: checkmd5 passed (attachment), some fast flying messages and empty black screen with only some dust lying on it... __{{emoticon}}__ In both cases I was able to reboot PC only using Reset button on PC case.
My system:

linktext was:"http://storage7.static.itmages.ru/i/17/ ... 130689.png"

Then I have noticed, that created image has EFI folder. So my questions for now are:
1. Does iso-snapshot can be booted only using UEFI?
I want to know it, before I will modify my BIOS settings, because I do not like UEFI and currently have setting: EFI CD/DVD Boot Option - NON-EFI
2. Which program should I use for writing iso-snapshots on USB flash drives or SD cards? dd seems not working properly.

Can you boot to init 3? (add a 3 at the boot menu).
If so, can you then get to X desktop by entering your user name and password then startx.

Yes I was able to boot to init 3 but with big problem. I have booted almost without desktop, only taskbar was available without sound and network applets (attachment).
Also file /etc/default/keyboard was not saved, so keyboard layouts did not worked. Pictures and music in /home folder were saved, I could play music and view saved photos. Still desktop was messed up. Also after clicking on Reboot button, DVD with image was ejected, but message"Remove medium and press Enter" did not appeared, so I had to press Reset button on PC case in order to reboot it.

I think I know what the problem is. I presume you ate making a personal snapshot, not distributable one.

You will need to make another snapshot using iso-snapshot, I'm afraid. Before you do so, remove these 2 files.

/usr/local/share/live-files/files/etc/slim.conf

/usr/local/share/live-files/general-files/slim.conf

OR

change demo in this line to your username

I have found that since doing a full dist-upgrade on my antiX-16 system, the iso-snapshot app no longer makes an .iso that will successfully write to a USB pendrive using antix2usb. It writes to the pendrive, but that pendrive will not boot into the gui without doing a ctrl/alt/F1, logging in, and running startx.
I can boot into my MX-16 install and successfully do the same process using the same apps and everything works fine.
Somehow, I suspect that the dist-upgrade and specifically the kernel upgrade may be responsible for the failure.
I have tried this on several antiX installs and get the same result. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Fixes should hit the repos soon.

iso-snapshot-antix and remaster-antix.

If you want to install your personal snapshot, you will need to type minstall into a root terminal

Thank You for very fast fix, but I already deleted those two slim.conf files and unfortunately could not continue creating backup because of urgent business.
Will the fixed version work properly without those two files?

Just wait for the packages get updated and you don't need to do anything. Or if you can't wait, you can find them here and install manually:

Tested today. Image file was written to SD card using antix2usb (fat32 file system).
Boots correctly, Live system works correctly.
The only thing is, file /etc/default/keyboard has not been saved, so I have the default US keyboard layout only on my Live system.
Any ideas how to force iso-snapshot to save this file too?
Update: CPU monitor applet and Network Monitor applet on taskbar does not work. They are on taskbar, but indicators does not move, just stand still.

Hello,
I am new to antix and so far it's great but I have a problem I can't seem to figure out.

As far as I can tell, this thread addresses a problem closest to mine.

I have a fully updated antix-16 32 bit install that I want to make a bootable image of. I've used the snapshot tool to create the iso and several tools to
write the image to the usb stick.

antix2usb.py
live-usb-maker-gui
unetbootin
dd

I have not been successful in creating a bootable image. Instead I get the same error over and over again.

Here is an image of I'm running

Anyone else seen this?
