Hello,

My installation is nearly complete and everything is working fine. The only major hickup is with flash not working on firefox 45.9.0 esr.

I tried installing Opera and Chrome to see if flash works with them, but the install does not seem to work.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Michel

I download the tar.gz from adobe's site and extract the latest libflashplayer.so and install it manually using drag and drop in rox file manager.

Code: Select all

harry@biker:~
$ locate libflashplayer.so
/etc/alternatives/libflashplayer.so
/home/harry/backup/Backups/libflashplayer.so
/usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.so
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so
My /etc/alternatives and /usr/lib/mozilla /plugins are symlinks <relative> pointing to /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree . Firefox is closed when I do this.
I go this route because I use Seamonkey. That way when I update falsh manually. I only have to replace the old /usr/lib/flashplayer-nonfree/libflashplayerr.so . I can leave the symlinks alone.

Be patient and wait for other posters to show the way they use the correct way to do this.

OK I will wait as I never draged and dropped in a terminal. Would installing Chromium or the latest Firefox help?

try this:

Code: Select all

sudo update-bunsen-pepperflash -i
which should update flash. On my default antix 16 system, the flash needed updated before the adobe flash test page would recognize it, even though adobe told me I had an older version installed.

Still does not work. I get sound as I did before, but no video
michel@antix1:~
$ sudo update-bunsen-pepperflash -i
Checking Flash version available from Adobe...
Upstream version: 25.0.0.171
Installed version: 25.0.0.171
You already have the newest version.

BBC news. I'm in hospital now using their public wifi. could that be the cause? Any other sites I can test?

Thanks,

what do you see on your screen instead of the video?

Incidentally I just tried BBC News here (United States) and its using HTML5 video instead of flash.

you can check here to see if your flash is installed correctly according to adobe.
