Hello, folks,

I' ve been having some trouble watching dvds. The picture and speed is not all that good and kind of slow and choppy. It could of course be the ati card.
I'm using the mesa driver. When I initially start gxine I get an error sort of. See screenshot.

I'm really not sure how to fix this. I've never noticed this before. For all I know, this has always occurred.

TIA,
Dave

Okay, I think I solved this one to my satisfaction. I just installed the proprietary ati driver (ATI M880G [Mobility Radeon HD 4200]). I then re-ran the gxine wizard and X11 driver issue was fine. Seems to run okay.

I guess my next question is about the open source drivers. I guess they are all not created equal. Is it possible to install the MESA DRI R600 (RS880 9712). Can I get that in antiX. I'm just a glutton for punishment I guess. __{{emoticon}}__ I Can't leave well enough alone. __{{emoticon}}__

I would leave well enough alone since a bunch of Debian bugs are posted on this but up to you.

Thanks rok. I came up with those too. I will follow your advice and continue to watch that driver's progress.
