Hello and congradulations on getting your own forum for Antix!

I thought I'd register to learn a bit about Antix and how well it works on older systems. I'm looking for a lightweight OS that is relatively easy to use for a newbie trying to get away from
Windows XP.
I have a friend that wants to keep his old Compaq (AMD 750,128 ram) running, and he's been asking me about linux as a possible replacement for XP. Debian and Slackware come to mind but these are probably not good choices in this case.
Antix, just might be the answer!

antiX probably is the answer! Even though I've been an antiX user for awhile I'm constantly amazed at how easy and well the livecd's work. As well as how fast and simple the installation process is.

Welcome to antiX!

I would have to agree with impuwat about the antiX install process. I am a new antiX user (I have been a Mepis user for a little while and still am) and you can see what I said about it here:

djrsml,
welcome to antiX.
Give it a try and let your friend test it out. Hopefully he will like it and install it.

Thanks, I will give it shot even if it doesn't work out for my friend. I'm downloading the M7.2 iso
now!

SimplyMepis was the first linux distro that actually worked for me, I bought a cd from ebay and popped it in and it worked! I found out later that the cd was a fake, but what the heck it worked well enough for me at the time
I mainly use Debian nowadays but SimplyMepis has not been forgotten, I'm happy to hear that they have returned to a Debian base once again.
