Hello all I just had to make my first post here. Been using Mepis for quite some time now and look forward to using Antix"mean and lean". __{{emoticon}}__ __{{emoticon}}__

Welcome, Rebel.

If you get a chance, let us know what kind of system(s) you have, and what version of antiX you're interested in.

Oh, and I'm about 20 min. north of you on the 405...

Well malanrich since you ask my system is an HP Pentium 4 with 2.6 Ghz processor and 1536 Mb of RAM. The graphics card is standard built in. It has a Western Digital 180 Gb hard drive. Right now I am using SimplyMEPIS version 7 etch. And IMHO it it really rocks! (It is my little"hot rod") I have a 1.6 Ghz, 80 Gb, 512Mb RAM,built in graphic card that I purchased at Fry's by Great Quality (its an IBM clone). I use it for experimenting on. The version of Antix which I am interested in is the one which has the kde database file. I dig irc and my favorite client is Konversation I like the"bookmark" feature it has. That about sums it up. (Whew!!) __{{emoticon}}__ __{{emoticon}}__ __{{emoticon}}__ __{{emoticon}}__

So you like the Fry's package? It's Mepis friendly? (I'm looking for an"experimenting-only" box to play with. I've been using Dell desktops and laptops with no major Linux issues so far but don't want the hassle of online ordering. As you know, we've got a couple of local Frys.)

I've finally gotten hold of the final Mepis 7 disk and tried it out a couple of days ago, thinking it would be my"main" OS on the Dell. But I've had such great luck with antiX 6.5 and 7, and with this KDE-base version coming out, I'm wondering <whisper> why I'd go back to the full Mepis.

Enjoy our forum!

Walking into a Frys is like Dutch Apple Pie ala mode with Caramel.
