You can install via the repos.

Are you running antiX-14 or MX-14?

If antiX-14, try searching for openjdk in synaptic.

If using MX-14, then you will find it in the mx-package installer

This is the antiX 14 Openbox. I read that I need the java for screencast creation ability and kazam didn't work, so maybe that's why...

What is antiX-14 Openbox? Did you remaster a new iso based of antiX? If so, which version of antiX and which repos are you using?

Its the 386RV full A3 with openbox stuff added from the repos only as per the other openbox thread. it still has all the other WM's available as well.

I don't see that a separate ISO would be needed at all.

So its antiX-14-a3. Ok, search for openjdk in synaptic and install from there. The openjdk-8 version is the latest.
