Hi,
I have made an 1.3GB ext3 partiton after the XP partiton (I dont have more space), but when I start the custom install of antix I can choose only the sda1 NTFS partiton of XP as /(root) partiton. There are no more options in that list. For /home I can choose the newly created sda2 ext3 partiton too, but I dont dare to continue, I dont want to loose the XP - for the present __{{emoticon}}__
So what should I do?

sda2 should be in the drop down menu. 1.3g will be a little tight if you want to install anything.

/(root) partition: sda1 - 8510MB - HPFS/NTFS (and there is nothing else in the drop down menu)
swap partition: none - or existing (and nothing else)
home partition: here I can choose between root and sda2 - 1300MB - Linux

I would appreciate any idea.
And yes I know that 1.3GB is a bit tight, but it is only a first experiment for me. I will get a bigger HDD later... as long as I can install antix at all. __{{emoticon}}__

I think that you need around 1.3MB minimum for the installer to allow an install, otherwise it doesn't show as is in your case.
You could try shrinking the XP partition, gparted allows you to do that from the live antiX cd, or I guess you could do it inside windows. If you do want to shrink the XP partition, make sure you keep a backup of your files, and you will need to defrag XP first.

Actually the sda2 wasn't 1,3Gb, but only 1Gb. I just planned to increase it. After I'd really done it the installation worked perfectly.
Now I can start to discover Linux. __{{emoticon}}__
