hi all, i'm new to linux, but i tried many mini distros like puppy dls tinyme with the same old laptop and i'v never had thist problem.
i've downloaded both antix and antix base but when i try to install it the installers does'nt find any hd, also gparted can't find a device,..so i have a device in which is installed tinyme, with other distro gparted was able to find it
so what is the problem? when runnig antix live cd in \dev i don't have neither sdax or hdax
i tried from the console to mount but i can't it say that in etc\sftab or something like this there is no hda or sda entry
also tried formatting hd with one partition 2 partitions with another system installed ..... i don't know how to solve this problem

do you have suggestions??

thanks a lot

How big is the hard-drive?
Did you follow the steps in the thread you posted?

While in the live cd open a terminal and try:

Code: Select all

su
password root
#fdisk -l
Just to see if it sees any hd. In your other post you did fdisk /dev/hda and i thinking it might be listed otherwise. Worth a shot.

Question: Why did you format to fat32? This is not a native a linux file system and the installer will automatically set up ext3 file system for you.

for anticapitalista: the HD is about 9 gb
not exactly but with other live cd's like tiny me puppy dsl an pure:dyne there are no problems.. i really like to have a debian based distro because as a musician i need some tools like jack pure-data etc, and i'm not familiar with the console and other packages like rpm or .pup so synaptic for me is a good choice as a non experienced user ,maybe i will wait fof the next debian based pure:dyne if it will run on with 167 mb of ram...

for erefisher: i've tried but it found no hd, no entries such hda sda etc..
the partitions are not fat32 because i've installed tiny me with default settings without using gparted the drakeinstall did everything so i think it's ext3

now I'm not with that pc with m but this evening i will pick it up and if can you tell me some commands to try i will post you the copy the results and post it
i will also post the entire fdisk -l results.
thank you very much

When you select the text in a terminal window, it is copied.
Then to paste it, you go to the other application and press your middle mouse button. If you don't have a middle mouse button you can try pressing the left and right mouse buttons simultaneously. (That doesn't work on my laptop though.)
