Seems that the latest xorg available ( as of 29th of September ) in testing causes a conflict with newer nvidia proprietary driver. The newest xorg no longer supports a vital part that the current nvidia drivers require. As a result the nvidia driver will not load to a usable state. Would like to make sure that this is aware of as a potential issue, and to see if anyone else has had a similar issue.

Will be posting back with more details such as the"vital part" and an output of inxi -F

Please not this inxi -F is AFTER the problem was solved by downgrading X, so the xorg version is the one from stable
