Ψάχνοντας τρόπο να αξιοποιήσω το παλιό laptop COMPAQ presario 2100 κατέληξα στο ΑΝΤΙΧ γιατί με αυτό μπορώ και δουλεύω ενώ με άλλα λειτουργικά (διάφορες εκδόσεις UBUNTU) το μηχάνημα σερνόταν.
Να πω ότι είμαι κυρίως MS WIN user αλλά και"λίγο" UBUNTU user σε πιο καινούργιους Η/Υ.

Με το ΑΝΤΙΧ όπως είπα και παραπάνω σερφάρω, διαβάζω αλληλογραφία, γράφω κανένα κειμενάκι αλλά μέχρι εκεί. Αντιμετωπίζω αρκετά προβλήματα λόγω του νέου περιβάλλοντος. π.χ. να καταλάβω την ονομασία των αποθηκευτικών μέσων, να συνδέσω και να αποσυνδέσω ένα φλασάκι, να βρώ το αρχείο που αποθήκευσα στην επιφάνεια εργασίας, να δημιουργήσω συντόμευση, να συνδέσω και να ρυθμίσω το Wireless Network Adapter D-Link DWA-125 και άλλα πολλά.
Επίσης με έχει πνίξει όλη αυτή η καινούρια ορολογία και οι άγνωστες λέξεις (session, antix2usb, fluxbox, jwm, conky, wicd, gprs/umts, wpa_suppplicant, slim κλπ) !

Έχω διάθεση να μάθω και όρεξη για διάβασμα. Μπορεί κάποιος να μου προτείνει από που να αρχίσω με τα βασικά ώστε να προχωρήσω και στον κόσμο του ΑΝΤΙΧ αλλά και του UBUNTU όπου και εκεί παιδευόμουν αλλά εκεί τα πιο πολλά γίνονταν μόνα τους.

ΕΥΧΑΡΙΣΤΩ εκ των προτέρων...

ΥΓ Διαβάζω και στην Αγγλική, τουλάχιστον καλύτερα από ότι μιλάω και γράφω.

Finding a way to use your old laptop COMPAQ presario 2100 came to ANTICH because with this I can work while other operating (various UBUNTU versions) the machine sernotan.Na say I am mainly MS WIN user and"little" UBUNTU user in most new The / Y.


With ANTICH as I said above surf, read mail, write texts with none but up there. Encounter several problems due to the new environment. B.C. to figure out the name of the storage media, to connect and disconnect a flash, to find the file that you saved on the desktop, create a shortcut to connect and configure the Wireless Network Adapter D-Link DWA-125 and more.
Also it has stifled all this new terminology and new words (session, antix2usb, fluxbox, jwm, conky, wicd, gprs / umts, wpa_suppplicant, slim, etc.)!

I am willing to learn and appetite for reading. Can anyone suggest me where to start with the basics and move to the world of ANTICH and the UBUNTU where there fiddle there but most of them were alone.

Ερώτηση 1: Γιατί MX LINUX Manual και όχι antiX Maual; Είναι ίδια σε όλα;
Ερώτηση 2: Ενώ αρχικά ο COMPAQ presario 2100 δούλευε γρήγορα μετά που πείραξα από το ΚΕΝΤΡΟ ΕΛΕΓΧΟΥ για να εγκαταστήσω την κάρτα D-Link DWA-125 νομίζω ότι έπεσε η ταχύτητα λειτουργίας του. Πως μπορώ να τσεκάρω εύκολα ότι όλα είναι o.k.;
... και ξεκινάω το εντατικό διάβασμα ...

Question 1: Why MX LINUX Manual rather antiX Maual; Is it the same?
Question 2: At first the COMPAQ presario 2100 was working properly but after i connected the card D-Link DWA-125 and found a way to work with antiX, the operation speed has dropped. How can I easily check that everything is o.k .;

I am neither a US citizen or a Mexican citizen. What I am is special. __{{emoticon}}__
Dad was Polish. Mom is Tarter/Ukranian. My younger brother and sister and my kids are all US citizens. My Mom and Dad were/are naturalized US citizens.

Some parts of the MX manual are the same as reading the AntiX manual.
We have become Siamese Twins with MX. MX is like Mepis/Antix melded together with similar DNA. MX is xfce 4.12 with AntiX goodness in it and Mepis special sauce. It is kind of hard to explain in just a paragraph and few sentences.
I cannot explain myself real well on this. Sorry. __{{emoticon}}__

To check if things are ok. Look for HTOP in the menu.

in terminal can be useful for seeing what happened lately when you think you have problems. Just so we are on the same wave length communicating. How about you post a

so we can see what your compaq has inside. Make sure the dlink card is inserted . BEFORE you turn on the compaq and boot it up.
So the kernel can see your wireless card and load the driver and what ever else is needed for the dlink card to start working.

Then after booting up with dlink card being read by the kernel.
In terminal.

Your wireless is ok and working. wlan0 is your wireless interface. You can now connect your wireless through ceni or wicd.

Both are in AntiX control center. I n wicd wireless preferences. Make sure wlan0 is in there.
Then just hit the refresh button in wicd taskbar.
