Hi folks,

I've tried antiX a few times in the past, but just yesterday committed it to bare metal, on one of my 32-bit test machines (1 of 2) here at work, tracking sid. Switched the default WM from iceWM to jwm, tweaked the configs, changed some defaults, and I'm good to go. Initially, the CPU was always maxxed out to 100%, but upon reboot, everything is aces. Solid, impressive release (Luddite).

Howdy and Welcome bones. Sounds like you'll fit in here just fine. I am taking a break from my fencing project. So I will be offline mostly for the next week or so.

A welcome from me as well.
Nice to see that you have decided to fully dive in __{{emoticon}}__

A few questions....

If you are comfortable with posting some of the tweaks to the configs / changes from defaults, could you do so?
Maybe some of those tweaks / changes to defaults could be made the default __{{emoticon}}__

Perhaps on the initial run you made some changes with sysv-rc-conf..... I have seen this ramp my cpu till next reboot.

Dave, other than changing from iceWM to jwm, changing the time format on the tray, changing the wallpaper, changing the default FM from rox-filer/spacefm to pcmanfm, no other changes at this time. Nope, didn't change anything in sysv-rc-conf. I haven't been able to repeat the 100% CPU issue, so life is good so far.

What makes pcmanfm more appealing than spaceFM?
I had the impression that spaceFM was"pcmanfm, on steroids"

No good reason, really, I just prefer pcmanfm over spacefm.
