hello,
I am not really sure this is the right place to put my question because this is concerning M11Pt1, but lets go.
By installing a Fritz WLAN USB adapter into antixM11Pt1, the modules were loaded with ndiswrapper, but when as"su" I made"modprobe ndiswrapper", an error message appear.

"FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found" (whatever the USB is present or not).

According diverse Debian forums, it seems to be an issue since a quite long time with issues on kernel-versions/incompatibility ndiswrapper/install issues.. (I could not identify till now what is the issue in M11Pt1.
Synaptic indicate ndiswrapper is installed.
Could somebody give me a command list how to solve the issue? (a lot of suggestions are in the net but I am a bit lost with the huge amount of comments..)
And perhaps rectify this issue for upcoming changes?
Thanks.

few links with the issue.. with google-search"FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found" or

Have you added ndiswrapper to your /etc/modules file? This will load ndiswrapper at boot.

The file needs to be editted as root, which can be done a number of ways. The easiest for way for me when I have to edit a config file as root is to open the control center, click the system tab, click eidt config files, enter the root password, then open the file I need.

floppy,

This might be relevant to your issue, while doing a search on your:
Fritz WlanUSB adapter 057c:5601
Please note that this adapter is included in this wiki article under Supported Devices

Thanks. Would be much better than ndiswrapper.
057c:5601 is mine.
from the debian page,

" Known Issues
WPA encryption is not supported.
The driver version provided in lenny/acx100-source does not support the TNETW1450 chipset."

This chipset is my chipset. So, I will have to use the firmware.
I need WPA2. Hopefully the WICD will overtake this WPA2, even if"WPA not supported" is indicated.
What do you think about this WPA restriction? does it mean I should stop here and go back to ndiswrapper?

floppy,

From what I have read, the development on this driver, has stalled, there was one reference to wpa working with a 2.6.32-35 kernel. Given the issues there, I would try with ndiswrapper. The other option is to find another usb adapter that is linux friendly.
Perhaps someone with more expertise with ndiswrapper will step up.
