Will check out synaptic as you indicated.

Have to go to dinner now, though.
Later, friend.
For sidux keyring you must have its repo enabled (sometimes you have to add debian/ to the end of the address in that list of mirrors) and have apt-get updated. (I don't leave it enabled, only used it to add some app and then disabled it again)
You must run the commands to add the keys (VB and Google) as root.

Those commands for vlc and perl-tk are to get their build dependencies, is that what you want? If so you must enable the sources repo (the one starting with deb-src).

Also for you to edit /etc/sudoers you must login as root in the terminal and run the command visudo.

Thank you for the reminder about visudo, especially, Remember I said I had to reload the OS due to problems beyond my expertise? I'm working on that machine, again.

Last night (or should I say earlier this morining) I put the info of your last post regarding repos to good use -- but with the reloaded OS, sidux. I get a real kick out of how quick the boot is with the XFCE version of this repo! __{{emoticon}}__ It and antiX will be with me for quite some time, I am certain.

Actualmente, it's on to newer challenges. Gracias otra vez to all here at this absolutely the most helpful forum online -- anti, oldhoghead, secipolla, eriefisher, dolphin_oracle.

Addendum

Just loaded another hard drive with antiX and, using your suggested method of adding repos, keys, dependencies (another thread), I updated and selectively upgraded without a problem. I'll keep putting this distro on as many old P4s as I am able to put together (only about a dozen or so more to go before I have to look for another donor) Then i sell them at cost to those in need and who sincerely want a PC.
