I am trying to get a usb wireless adapter to work in antiX M7.01 using this thread at MepisLovers:

Maybe someone here can suggest something for me, so that I can compile the drivers without synaptic removing the kernel headers. Here is my post:
I am trying to follow these instructions (from the above post) for usb wireless adapter - 2573 Ralink.

libgtk2.0-0 is 2.12.1-1 from testing. libgtk2.0-dev also shows up from testing as version 2.12.1-1
But synaptic wants to remove the kernel headers which I need for compiling the driver and the RutilT - at least I think I need them. The kernel is 2.6.22-1-mepis-smp

Does anyone have a suggestion to get around this?
It must have something to do with upgrading from etch. I can't use the mepis reps either though because I tried.
Do I need to go back to rc1 because it was earlier and then do the mepis upgrades instead of using M7.01?

Thanks!!

Not sure exactly what you want to install mariel77.

Are you hoping to install the rt73 source package found in synaptic?

apt-get install rutilt
gets the RutilT app

Thanks for pointing out that they are in synaptic already; I didn't look because I was following a how-to from the mepis forum that recommended compiling them. I like synaptic better. Thanks! __{{emoticon}}__

@anti,
I just want to let you know that I got my rt73 wireless usb working.

I needed to blacklist ndiswrapper and at least one of the other rt drivers (I blacklisted them all. __{{emoticon}}__ I used the mepis manual & wiki networking sections to figure it out.
I did compile a new rt2x00 driver from

, but I don't think it was needed; I think the rt73 package that came installed with antiX would have worked OK once the other drivers were blacklisted.

The rutilt package from synaptic that you recommended works great; it was what I needed. Thanks, again!
