I just installed antiX on an old Dell CPi A366XT, seemed like it worked fine. I ran Synaptic to install a few preferred apps and I clicked of"Mark all Upgrades". Now the video is corrupted when the display should be highlighting things. The exact symptom is most easily described with the menus, instead of changing the text black and the background grey, the text turns black but the background sometimes looks like it is one of the lower menu selections or sometime just random junk. In card games the score looks like ti just keeps getting written over the last text, in majong the removed tiles are replaced somewhat randomly with the proper background and sometime just random junk.

My hardware is a Dell Latitude CPi A366XT
Processor - Pentium II, 366Mhz
System chip set - Intel Mobile 440BX PCIset
CardBus controller - Texas Instruments PCI 1225 CardBus controller
Memory Architecture - SDRAM memory
Memory size - 256MB
Audio controller - NeoMagic 2200 AC97 Codec
Video controller - NeoMagic 2200
Video memory - 2.5 MB
Display resolution/colors - 1024 x 768 pixels; 65,536 colors

How can I get the system to re-probe the hardware to ensure that it had the right config?

i won't be able to look into the problem until later today - depends on what my wife has planned for our family today. in the meantime could someone please post a screenshot so i can wrap my mind around what's going on? so far my only idea is that it has something to do with the built-in"engines" icewm uses to display the menu and taskbar. thanks.

Thanks - ezard's fix was it. I thought it was an X problem, but purely iceWM, I checked before the fix and fluxbox was working then I saw ezard's post before I had to do further investigation.

Now on to figuring why I can see directories on my SMB shares but I can't read the files despite the fact ls -l says I have full permission . . . . always something.
