Wao ! I don't understand this too much ! ^^

I hope Synaptic works better once installed on a hard drive. Where is the install setup by the way ?

Best greetings, Mélodie.

right click on the desktop
from the resulting menu select Admin/Tools then Mepis Admin and then left-click on Install

Once installed, use apt-get in terminal to update repositories (# apt-get update)

To open synaptic you can use the menu
right click on the desktop
select Admin/Tools then Tools and then left-click on Synaptic

Welcome to antiX from me too.

Synaptic doesn't work as a livecd unless you use the aufs option at the menu screen (not default option, but the second one in the list).

Follow moron's advice for installation.

(He doesn't live up to his name. He is in fact very knowledgeable in linux and antiX)

And he (moron) was the first to answer several of my novice questions on the mepis lovers forum. He gave good clear patient answers...and then received a little grief from several idiots about his user name. I was very appreciative for moron's help and a little tweaked that someone would waste everyone's time disrespecting him. Another reason I'm very appreciative of this forum and the caliber of people that populate it.

Wow! You're way too kind, gentlemen. I don't really know that much at all but I enjoy sharing the little I do know. I learn something from you guys and the others here every day. Thanks for the vote of confidence.

BTW, there is an interesting story behind my username, aside from its obvious implications.
I'll share it someday.

Hello,

Thanks for your answers.

Btw, don't worry about my concern for nicks : I haven't got any predjudice whatsover, be it a Devil666, a CleverDog or... __{{emoticon}}__

(My nick is Mélodie, but I don't sing all day and sometimes I can even shout quite loud ! __{{emoticon}}__ )

Only thing important for me is the way someone acts and reacts.
That thread is over : I installed twice in virtual machine, the Lysistrata version and the Spartacus version to end with, my boy-friend installed in real machines, and we have some work yet to do to tweak them to our feeling.

One thing is sure : antiX offers a nice start to have a useable distribution, and I'll still have questions about how to change things here and there.

I wish since some time allready to find the ideal distribution for tiny configurations that can fit in beginner's hands.

Thanks to all for your welcome messages ! __{{emoticon}}__
