I would be very happy to read it and learn more about the actual behavior of the boot loader, especially taking into account the differences between the"old" MBR and the newer UEFI method of booting a system image.

The antix GRUB is just the same as any Debian or most any Linux distribution and there are a lot of Howto do Grub already. I have done this many times is the reason I couldn't resist commenting. The antix installer doesn't now directly support the UEFI so everybody must install in Legacy mode. I tried to explain how to convert a Legacy install to UEFI in this post:
