Hello everyone,

i'm new to the forum and i've just installed antix 16 on an old Athlon XP 2000+ with 512mb of ram and 20gb hd. Really satisfied with the result! The"biggest" problem is the lack of sse2 instructions on that cpu and so flash won't work but i can live without it. And in the past i used debian+icewm, so i feel @ home __{{emoticon}}__ .

However, if i can, some things i've noticed that i'm not that happy with (and i hope some of them could be used as a suggestion for improving an already excellent distro):

I've installed the full edition.

1) If i click on an image, no action-viewer is used within the rox file manager. Am i missing something or is it something lacking in the default config?

2) Roxterm: ctrl-shift-t to open new tab asks for password. Using the same action from the menu works.

3) To gain some ram, even if not that much, it could be useful to disable tty3-6.

4) btrfs module is loaded and unused

5) A light adblocker for firefox could be useful. I normally use adblock plus on my pc, but maybe bluhell or ublock are better on old pcs.

6) ctrl-shift-canc collides with firefox cache deletion shortcut.

7) noatime and nodiratime could lead to performance improvements especially with old hdds.

Thank you again for the distro and keep up the great work!

Glad you like what you see! And welcome to the forum.

I think cntrl+shift+t is the predefined shortcut for the root terminal. You can check the ~/.icewm/keys file for the definitions. just comment out what you don't want and logout/login.

there is a system-wide adblocker available in the control center. Its super light, modifying the / etc/hosts file to block known ad servers.

Welcome to antiX!

1. What image files? If I go to /usr/share/wallpaper (as an example) left clicking on any of the jpg or png open the image in mirage. A right click on the image gives the option of mirage, feh and mtpaint.

2. You need to make a change to your icewm/keys file in your home directory.

3. Some of us use lots of ttys __{{emoticon}}__ I do when running in init 3.

4. You can simple remove it with apt-get purge btrfs-tools

5. There is one already set up called advert-block. It is also in the control centre -> Network -> Adblock

6. canc?

7. Hmm, that might be a bug you have found - or maybe we decided to remove it. Can't remember

I have installed Antix on another pc, this time the 64 bit version.

Whilst using the live usb file associations (e.g. if i click on an image mirage opens with the image are ok, after installing i obtain the same error i've posted with images in the previous message.

Is there a way to fix the problem?

Thank you in advance.

When you install, are you saving a previous home set up? If so, don't.

same here.

I fixed it opening by right clicking a graphic file, Set Run Action, selecting the top button option, and then dragging in the /usr/share/applications/antix/image-viewer.desktop file into the box. Now graphics will open in whatever graphics viewer is defined by the"Preferred Applications" control center app.

Thank you dolphin_oracle, i did this way too. Even video files are not well configured iirc, maybe also other files... The strange thing is that running live everything works.
