You are right...it was very close. Total of 189 files as opposed to 191. So I think I will update & upgrade with sid. Then go back and do the same with just the Mepis repo and see what happens.

I did an apt-get update and then did mark all upgrades. Pidgin was to be removed, a bunch of apps were to be upgraded, and a bunch to be installed (didn't pay attention as this was an experiment). If I have time today I'll do the upgrade.
