I have tried to keep the Korstro theme on my desktop. My problem is that everytime I shut down the computer, it goes back to the default. How do I make the Korstro theme permanent. While I'm at it, how do I make a desktop background picture available so I can change the background once in a while, and still keep the Korstro theme? (I like IceWm better than Fluxbox.)

hi mizpa,

sounds to me like you can change the theme but it will not save the theme you choose. So I would check the permisions of the file ~/.icewm/theme. The permisions should be
Owner = your username
Group = users
access control
Ownner = read and write
group = read only
other = read only

this will allow your user to write the theme you want to keep in the theme file for icewm

Nope! that didn't work ..... the Korstro theme comes up, then it blinks and the defaut theme comes up, then it blinks and the Korstro theme comes up, then it blinks and the default theme comes up and it stays there at the default .... I gave myself all the permissions. I did an

Code: Select all

apt-get update && apt-get upgrade && apt-get dist-upgrade
last nite which didn't seem to make any difference in the problem with the themes. I've got a different issue now to add to the others, but i'm going to work on it myself for now ..... I would just like to set the theme for myself instead of the computer picking it for me (shades of Ballmer and Gates __{{emoticon}}__ )

Just solved the problem, instead of going to the menu>settings>themes, I used the antiX Control Center>desktop>Choose Wallpaper (hich I thought I was doing at the menu), and now everything is hunky-dory! Got a couple more issues to take care of, and my antiX install will be golden!
