Hello, all --

Sorry I've been absent for the better part of over a month. Getting my office established, registering for school and writing -- not to mention a wide variety of computer experimentation -- has kept me from contributing to the AntiX forums until now.

Blogging as"Larry the Free Software Guy," I have started an eight-part series called"Eight Distros a Week" (after the Beatles song) and since AntiX starts with"A," it is the first distro I review.

Please give it a read at

Good review, despite the superfluous anecdotes you graced your introductory paragraphs with; I saw 3, maybe 4 paragraphs on the actual distro, would have liked to see more. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the great review Larry.

Just a couple of points.

Lysistrata doesn't come with xfce, just that there is an 'unsupported' iso for download. Both Spartacus and Lysistrata come with fluxbox and icewm.

I'm not a programmer, but a teacher and I'm not Greek, nut a Brit living and working in Greece for the last 20 years (nearly).

Looking forward to reading about the other Magnificent 7.

Sorry, anticapitalista -- I'll go correct the blog about Xfce, your nationality and your profession (you know, I _thought_ your English was way too good for it to be your second language . . .). Also, if it's not clear in the blog, I _do_ think your efforts personally and that of the AntiX community to provide a distro that runs well on old machines AND runs _really_ well on newer machines deserves the gratitude of all who run alternatives to the OS hegemony foisted on us by Redmond and Cupertino.

BTW, n2j3, just call me"Mr. Superfluous Anecdote" -- way too many people on these shores (at least), sadly, think Spartacus is a rapper doing hip-hop and"Liz Estrada" is one of actor Erik Estrada's former wives. I thought that needed clearing up, and sorry it took away from the review for you.

eriefisher --

If you go to the"memberlist" at the top of the forum, it gives a list of people who have signed up on the forum. If you go down the list, I happen to be 100, and I believe dieselbenz made a joke about the fact that I had broken the three-digit barrier a few months ago. Hence, I try to put that on all my signatures.

So go ahead and see where you are.
