Hi All

I'm very new to Antix and was hoping to get my little notebook working as a media download server but for some reason or another i can't seem to get the sharing side of things correct. can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Some notes in addition to the video suggested by rokytnji.

The video is slightly out of date. Also look at the User Guide.

One of the main changes is the use of a comma rather than a space to separate a list of shares you want to connect to.
Hint: Remember to use a comma as the last character even when only a single share is specified.

If you are using antiX-13.2 it was shipped with a missing dependency that prevents it working with NFS shares straight-out-of-the-box.

Install nfs-common for Connectshares to work as designed.

In antiX-13.2 as shipped, there was a packaging mistake which meant the user was prompted for a root password.

My memory is a little hazy, but I seem to recall this situation is automatically fixed by making sure antiX-13.2 has its updates applied after installing it.

Since 13.2 was shipped, antiX has adopted x-terminal-emulator as a default. This can make the initial Connectshares screen look untidy and generate a message. Again, making sure the updates are applied provides the fix, however you must put it in place manually.

Copy
/etc/skel/.config/connectshares/launcher.conf
to
/home/USERNAME/.config/connectshares/launcher.conf

If wanted you can fine tune it by editing its contents, but it is not a requirement.

All the above should be addressed in the next antiX release once it is finished.
