Hello:
I haven't tried to play a dvd in this box in a long time, however, I know it was working initially. Now, I can't get a dvd to work either with gxine or even if I try to open the individual mpegs with mplayer. With gxine I get the following error:

The xine engine failed to start.
No demuxer found - stream format not recognised.

I wonder if this related to the xorg update?

thanks

Pedro

According to here

url was:"http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-35188.html"

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false (post from @jens), you should 'open xine->become"master of the universe"->look at audio and video. /dev/cdrom or dev/cdrom1 should match your drives. Look at /etc/fstab.

Pedro, this other thread fixed it by adding

Code: Select all

libxine1-ffmpeg

I can't give you any first-hand info since I've got no DVD drive.

Secipolla:

Thanks for the links and the information. Installing libxine1-ffmpeg fixed it! I still suspect that it had to do either with my conversion to sid or the xorg update. My other boxes are not having this issue. At any rate, thanks for your help.
