I'm not trying to appoint myself as the official theme creator for antix, but I would like to create a theme that I can finally be happy with and share it (along with any other themes that I create) with the community. I would like some input as to a general direction - mostly to help me get some focus.

If you respond to the poll, please post some comments such as:
1. Do you prefer a dark theme, a blue theme, etc.
2. Do you prefer a nature shot, artwork, etc.
3. For mac lovers, do you prefer the aluminum look, the glassy look, or the milk look?
4. For gnome lovers, do you prefer meta or clearlooks?
5. Do you prefer a minimal theme, glassy theme, etc.
Or is there something else that floats your boat or sinks your ship?

Thanks for help.

I like the current clean style of AntiX 'Lysistrata'. Why should it be a knock-off of anything else? The water-scene wallpaper is pleasant, the desktop convenient, and the logo's distinctive. __{{emoticon}}__

Good idea OU812.

1. I keep changing my mind. I went for the dark theme in Spartacus, blue theme in Lysistrata and use some of Sakasa's dark wallpaper and the Royal theme made by impuwat.

2. Both

3. N/A

4. N/A

5. minimal

I like things clean, simple and minimal. No desktop icons, simple wallpaper. You know what I mean?

I'm trying to get a minimal theme going. I am feeling really outclassed as I browse through the screenshots at customize.org. I can pretty much find a wall I like, but finding matching xmms skins and fb styles can be tough. Also, I can only do simple mods to the fb style. But I may be making progress. I had overlooked the gaia theme at first, but now am kinda digging it. I didn't like the walls chosen in the gaia screenshots, but I did find one I like. What do you think of this? Seems relatively minimal and soothing. Has some darks, grays, and blues. Kinda mellow.

Or there's this minimal theme featuring a clearlooks style

Please post comments. Thanks.

I line up with the minimalists. I think users go for archetypal simplicity because it suggests stability somewhere beneath the whirl of techno-change.

For me, it's the Asian sensibility that keeps things steady. I'd go for themes with an Asian feel, to show that things may change on the surface--but underneath, nothing rocks the buddha.

Also, Asian themes can be at once simple and quite dramatic in terms of contrasting colors and shapes.

All you have to is find a wallpaper you like. Here's a shot of the multimedia themes

and here's one with the gtk2 theme

I also found a few other xmms and style"combos" at customize.org, but finding a suitable wall can be difficult for me. If I knew more about it, I'd just choose a color and set the wall myself like I see in several screenshots.

Hope you like it.

john

I played around with the aforementioned idea and found that the background to the style"shade" (in antix iso) seems to fit well.

You might be chasing shadows John. My tastes change...sometimes I like simple & clean wallpaper, and sometimes nature or more sophisticated artwork. I like nearly all colors but lean towards darker themes. I love fluxbox and do not use icons. I suspect most people are similar to me and will vacillate between those styles that hit their particular sweet spots.

I throw away most of the styles/wallpapers I play around developing. I am rarely completely satisfied with anything and I am my worst critic. When I do post something I wonder why in the world I just uploaded that __{{emoticon}}__

Having just said that....trust your instincts and go with what you like. Those that like that particular theme or style will download and use it. Others won't. It's not a value judgment of your work. The beautiful thing about this world is it's variety.

Malanrich - I'm glad that the wall was included in the file; it's not always that easy. I got a little inspiration from you and did some searching at customize.org and found this wall; it seems to go well with my theme.

She is most excellent...that's a fact. I like the colors, design, and layout.

But are you telling me you would use that wallpaper/theme exclusively and never, ever change your wallpaper again? __{{emoticon}}__

I, like you John, struggle most with finding a good wallpaper. I have a number of great ideas in my head but my Inkscape and Gimp skills are not to the point where I can transfer the idea to reality. I find it fairly easy to develop a coordinating style once I have a good wallpaper.

I plan on purchasing a tablet soon that will help me transfer sketches into Inkscape & Gimp. That may help. If anyone has any experience or recommendations regarding tablets I would love to hear your thoughts.
