This package won't install. It requires libstartup-notification-1.0 but we can only get 0.9-1.

xToeCutter - that error can be eliminated by getting the"lxappearance" app from the same link above, then installing & running, and selecting the gtk theme and icons that you desire. Simple as that. __{{emoticon}}__

Also, remember that you'll need to run lxappearance also as root if you want to set the theme & icon for using PCmanFM as root.

PCmanFM rocks!! __{{emoticon}}__

Ok I got it! I had to download a bunch of dev packages but it works!!!!!

I could not use it to ssh into my other box but the samba part works flawlessly.

Great stuff. I haven't got samba working yet, but i'm keen to have a go. It would be great to have a nice little lightweight file manager such as PCmanFM that also does network browsing!! __{{emoticon}}__

LOL!! How did you do that? Did you just add the repo & apt-get install lxde? That will also bring a few other things (including GDM) that you may not want. It's much better just to install the parts that are needed (lxcommon, deamon-settings, lxpanel, lxsession or lxsession-lite etc, plus Openbox & maybe Openbox-themes, gpicview, pcmanfm) and then add"lxde" to slim and also add"startlxde" into the relevant place in .xinitrc and you're good to go...."Without" having to install GDM!! __{{emoticon}}__

How are you finding it anyway?

I have a checkinstall .deb if you want to test it out. Let me know and I will send it to you.

Is that a checkinstall deb of pcmanfm? If so i'd love to have a copy if you wouldn't mind. Many thanks. __{{emoticon}}__

I created the checkinstall deb when I compiled the source. I missed your link to lxde and the deb, it looks like it's like it's a newer version by -1. If you still want it I'll send it.

Once I have figured it all out I will try. You could install the deb DjINN pointed out and play with it.

I noticed on mepislovers that there is a version called kde-lite.
I assume that the new version is not ready yet but does kde-lite support networking out of the box ?
