I have been a Ubuntu user for quite some time and as a consequence; I am finding the initial transition difficult. At the moment I have a few questions-

1. How is Antix updated, and how often? I am so used to Ubunt
2. Is there any documentation available for Antix and also for the window manager fluxbox?
3. How can I install via synaptic? I am not used to using Debian in terms of Sid/Lenny. I would like to install Thunar file manager, Deluge but it appears it needs the dependencies which can not been authenticated. In Ubuntu I could easily update the repos to authenticate any unauthorized software.

Firstly welcome to antiX, thisisforever.

Now onto your questions.

1. antiX-M7 is a rolling release, meaning that upgrades, updates can be done through the repositories of debian (mainly) and Mepis. This basically means that once installed, there is no need to install later versions. Simply upgrade packages, kernel through apt-get/synaptic.
Updated versions of antiX will probably be released every 3 months or so, to save new users from upgrading 100's of MBs of apps.

2. Some documentation for antiX and fluxbox can be found in the howto's section of the antiX site. See also links and the Mepis 7 manual.

3. antiX uses the Debian testing (Lenny) and Etch repos as well as the Mepis ones. The repos should be authenticated as is. You should be able to install apps easily through synaptic, though I suggest using the terminal and apt-get. It is quicker and IMO safer as you get to see what is happening.

In reply to #3, I still can't authenticate certain programs within synaptic. I have tried to install via apt-get in the terminal but I still can't install either deluge, abiword plug-ins nor thunar file manager.

I am impressed with antiX so far. I like the fluxbox set-up, it is definitely more complete, than other fluxbox-based distros e.g fluxbuntu.

What is the exact message?

You may need to comment out the Mepis repos, then
apt-get update
apt-get install thunar

There will be an upgraded version of antiX available very soon. After Xmas but before the new year. This will have upgrades from release date (Oct 29th, well over 100MB) and upgrading should be much easier as the Mepis repos will no longer be needed as many of them have been upgraded to Debian testing including xorg. antiX-M7.01 will use xorg 7.2 unlike Mepis 7 which uses xorg7.1
