I just installed yesterday for the first time and I dont think I have seen the ram go higher than 2GB or the cpu go higher than 20% max

This is with both Firefox and a chrome-based browser at the same time with multiple tabs.

I have 8GB total and an Intel i5

With Ubuntu-Gnome I was almost always at 80% or more ram on a traditional day of multitasking. And cpu would also be over 75% in spikes

I have had to modify several things so far and I really appreciate the members of this forum for your fast assistance.

I feel by Monday I should have all the kinks ironed out and will be using this as my main workstation.

I am not a distro-hopper maybe change every 2 or 3 years (usually when LTS is over I mess around with another distro to give it a try since I have to do a clean install anyways).

In this case I borked up something real bad on Ubuntu-Gnome where I was unable to connect to any PPA and also wget was being refused and this is even with the ufw disabled. I worked on that for 4 days trying to get solution from forums and search and could never fix it. Then tried to restore from a filezilla backup from 3 months ago. But even with reverting to the backup the issue persisted and then my right click stopped bringing up a menu on different apps and also the system was running bogged down (after 2 years of daily use).

But the good news is that I have found AntiX 16.2 now and so far so good

Update:

Please see my post here

grub-is-broken-after-initial-install-t7123.html

Have encountered so many obstacles that will not be able to continue using anti-X as my daily driver

(I lost complete network connectivity after running the update-grub, ended up having to do a complete reinstall and then ecountered even more problems)
