your main menu entry has a"3" in the boot parameter line, which apparently carried over from when we did this during the install, and which will take you to"init 3" which is the command prompt. My apologies, I did not know it would do that. oddly, the sysvinit line also has a 3

that"3" should show up in / etc/default/grub, in the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT line, which near the top of the file. Edit the file, remove the 3, and then run

sudo update_grub

to generate new menu entries. Reboot and see what happens.
