It beats me. I haven't been able to get vlc to work in antix. It was rock solid in Ubuntu. I've installed codec files (32 something and the other one __{{emoticon}}__ ) and still it does not work. mplayer and gxine work. However, I like the easy window-resizing option of vlc.

I'd be very interested in whether you can fix this problem.

I have successfully installed vlc in antix m8 (and previous versions). I did have a hard time at first connecting to shoutcast streams, but it's fine now. It is a wonderful app, but a bit too heavy to be included in an antix distro.

Glad to hear it's working for you. Did you do anything special for the install? How about codecs? I'd love to get it up and running in antix.

thanks.

I did nothing special - sort of. I'm using strictly stable repos though. (except for installing asunder that is.) According to the vlc site, you should be able to find packages in stable, testing, and unstable.
