I was gone for almost two weeks. When I came home I saw there were a lot of updates so I let it go. Bad idea.

First I found it ripped out my xserver with my nvidia driver. I had to reinstall xserver-xorg and run dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg using vesa to get anything. It just plain refuses to use"nv". At least it's usable.

The next problem is no sound. It use to use snd_via82xx module but I can not see any sign of it anywhere.

Any suggestions? Anyone else having issues?

Did you use apt-get or synaptic? When I did an upgrade using apt-get, it broke my sound system. So I did an upgrade using synaptic and rebooted. This fixed the problem. Hope it works for you.

I used aptitude dist-upgrade.

Are you using the sid repos?

Try another
apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade

Maybe some apps didn't get installed properly or were held back.

For sound make sure you have the alsa modules installed.
You may need to use alsaconf, and reboot.
Which kernel is installed? Check through synaptic.

OK, problem solved. Some how the alsa-modules for the mepis kernel were removed. I reinstalled them and now I'm back to normal--I think-

eriefisher,

Glad everything seems back to 'normal'.
If you are using the sid repos, using aptitude is not a good idea, unless there are some problems with dependencies.
I would stick with apt-get and also disable the Mepis repos ans enable them when/if there are Mepis related upgrades ie kernel, Mepis utilities.

Once Mepis goes final, I will upload an antiX-M7.01.iso.
This will be a bug-fix version and upgraded to the final Mepis. I noticed that dist-upgrading a fresh install of antiX-Lysistrata brings in 103MB of apps. Not good for those on dial-up, especially as I hope Mepis will also be providing extra cds too.
