Hello everybody!

Is there any fix or trick to accelerate wine? With Ubuntu 9.04 (Which itself ran much slower than antX) I had no problems running wine. Fast app starts, fast scrolling etc. but with antiX 8.5 it takes a long time to start the same applications on the same machine. And if they have started they are slow in scrolling and opening menus. Any suggestions? I can life with it but it astonished me and I would like to know the reason for this behavior.

I don't use compiz if you mean that. And I haven't installed fglrx for my 'Mobility Radeon'.

You probably need some sort of driver for it to run at correct speed.
What does Ubuntu use, any idea?

With Ubuntu there was no need for any driver. Besides, the applications I run need no graphic acceleration. No games or other 3d stuff.

and a library program to display books, journals, etc. therefore nothing with hight requirements.

Thanks for the FAQ Link. Turning off the 'fixme:'-messages has speeded up the library program. The other ones trigger only a few massages so there is no effect to determine.
