Anti,

Could not get the hot keys for wterm to work after changing from xterm to wterm, but did get them to work when I changed the keys to read:

wterm -tr +sb -fg white -T"antiX"

don't know if I am just too new to antix to know what those keys are supposed to do or if this was an oversight?

Running antiX RC1 on my old dell inspiron 3700 PIII and it just flys!!!

Thanks for all the hard work.

cheers

Yeah I messed up the keys file in rc1. I put aterm down instead of wterm.
What you have is fine,.

enjoy antiX

man wterm in a terminal gives you all the information you will need.

To put a scrollbar change the +sb to -sb

oldhoghead, Well, If it helps any, I didn't realize you could even edit wterm, but now I have it working the way I like so that I don't need konsole, so thanks for asking. __{{emoticon}}__

anticapitalista, Thanks for the edit tips!

mariel77,
you are welcome.

I have always hated konsole from kde, mainly because I saw it as a slow and clunky terminal, even though it had great features. It used to drive me nuts through frustration!
I prefer aterm to wterm, but aterm in Etch/testing doesn't work properly. (I discovered wterm precisely because aterm doesn't work well in etch).
IMO a nice terminal is one that can be easily configured, fast, has lots of options and is low on resources. wterm passes the test, but konsole (kde) doesn't.

mariel77,

Well, It is good that there were some positive results from my asking a question I should have googled, but I am glad that this forum and MepisLovers have such knowledgeable and patient mods that answer your questions without being condescending. In a year of using Mepis I have slowly but surely gotten away from windows, I am loving antiX, have been checking out some info, to tweak it the way I want, and have added HPLIP, tweaked the menu. Learning as I go.
Great job Anticapitalista this distro just works and screams doing it, I like how configurable fluxbox and icewm are, right now I am reading up on mc, lots of options and capabilities.

oldhoghead,
what you have described is what antiX (and Mepis) is all about.
My philosophy on life is that no-one is incapable of learning, maybe people need a bit of help, a push here or there, or whatever, but everyone can learn even the most 'difficult' of things. (an exception may be G.W Bush!!)

Every one of us has the potential to strive to great heights, but the society(ies) we live in doesn't allow that to happen as it threatens the existing order ie the status quo.

Choice and freedom is something we should cherish and fight for. ie for everyone whoever they are, wherever they are, and not for an elite in the White House or the British parliament, the European Union, the Greek parliament etc etc.

Bush? Yea, we are really proud of him over here! He has certainly written a lasting legacy over the last two terms. Saw him in Des Moines making a campaign stop (I was in the same hotel for a mental illness training session) when he was running the first time. Even walking though the lobby, he looked totally confused. Reminded me of a deer caught in headlights in the middle of an Interstate highway.

Ok, I promise. I shall say nothing further on politics. I am way more into philosophy and gourmet vegetarian cooking than I am into politics, anyway. And old diesels. And antique motorcycles. And home-brewed biodiesel. And, of course, stickin' it to MIcrosoft through the popularization of Linux.

Hey Moron (that just sounds SO right) --

I have no intention of turning this into a political forum. As I said in my post, it was a"one shot" deal. No more politics stuff from me, but I really did see Bush and he really did look confused trying to get to the right room. That isn't politics, that was from my own eyeballs. I have a first-hand understanding of what has happened over the last seven years.

Besides, my lil' brother is Secret Service and"runs" with Dubya, so I have a full appreciation of the subject at hand from an inside source (and he is hard-core Republican).

Now, back to Linux stuff ..... 'Nuff of the politics.

I don't mind politics on this site at all, as long as it isn't racist and people discuss it in a civilised manner and keep polite to one another.

In fact I might create a section of the forum for it so those that want to talk can and those that don't can just ignore it.
