Hardrive is from this thread below. I thought it was just too cool that my install carried over from Laptop to Laptop.

I boot OK into liqourix and have removed the 2.6.32 mepis kernel also. dpkg-reconfigure locales also to US.
This is running smooth but afeared of doing apt-get autoremove to gain 100MB of diskspace and break everything else. /etc/fstab is also OK (changed everything from /dev/hdx to /dev/sdx like /swap and everything else is UUID=). So spent some work on this.

So like I said. Smooth. So what do ya think of my apt-get autoremove?

Well. carved up drive with gparted and resized antiX / to 17 gigs and used rest of 10gig as /dev/sda1 as /data ext3. Reinstalled grub to mbr also. Did all this with a AntiX 11 rc1 live cd I have.

Liquorix Kernel Killed tap on mouse pad. I fixed it by making a text file in

/etc/modprobe.d

Named it

psmouse.conf

whiich left me

/etc/modprobe.d/psmouse.conf

typed in it

Seems safe to remove.

If there are apps you use like ufraw you will probably be able to install anyway.

Allrighty then. I use Mirage for viewer so geeqie can go to. I don't use ufraw but thought other apps may depend on it. I have this thread to reference if I break something. zenity was the sticking point for me. So gonna rev her up and go for it. __{{emoticon}}__

Learned a new trick with this Laptop. Hitting fn+f5 for one second turns the back light on keyboard so keys can be seen in pitch black darkness. Re-hitting those keys for one second turns back light off. Works in AntiX but suspect acpi in bios maybe is controlling this.

I had 2 Amrel RT 686 Laptops before the house flooded. One died and I scrapped it for parts (Parents learned me not to waste nothing) and dumpster-ed/trashed it.
The other still works and boots and displays ok. I might sell it though. Gonna have to try this trick on it and see if it has
the back light keyboard feature before I put it up for sale.

Do you have the libgdk-pixbuf dev package installed? I think you may need to install them and then do

gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders --update-cache

tried the force in install option (apt-get -f Install) as I knew already as I knew regular install with apt-get was going to fail (had tried already earlier)

Thinking of installing and trying out aptitude next maybe. I might be looking at doing a reinstall (no LXDE this time) maybe later if I can't figure this baby out. I'll wait though first before trying anything till I hear back from you guys first .

I tried yesterday with synaptic (it would not uninstall).Will try again and post errors.

Scratch that. I moved it to my /home/harry/Backups folder instead of deleting it . No difference on errors.

you could go into the file and remove the blank line at 13998 and put a period in. You could also just replace it with status-old or with one of the dpkg.status.x.gz backups in /var/backups/ or just compare it with an older one to see if there are any differences

When you got the GdkPixbuf-WARNING, did you get a lot of the warnings repeating itself? If so, do you have the loaders.cache file and is it blank or have stuff written in it? If you have it and it's blank you could just try gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders --update-cache without installing the dev. I've gotten similar error and was told to update the cache thingy

Perhaps this is helpful or not
