Tapatalk?  Is this something introduced by freeforums?  It does not seem to bring anything useful or beneficial at an initial and superficial glance.

I would imagine the primary reason for the change is that the forum is now more easily viewed on mobile devices.

The email notifications are unwanted, and it's somewhat difficult to find where to turn them off. Did it eventually!

hello SamK and everyone, those nibbled around the edges
For how long will the automatic redirect from old antix url forum to the new

? Permanent ?
That is a curve to throw at wavrydr shortly after putting up the Nice facebook pages.
search results are rather elongated here.  one thing about the email notification settings is that a few members might get a unexpected email not to say Come Look at the Great new forum Arrangement, but they will come look to change that setting.

return. it allows add:
hello  SamK
yo [sneakerless]dolphin_oracle. BitJam cannot hear you screaming"I can't Breathe."
Maybe the last of the shouts could get published.  The final shouts not encountered by us shoutees, before the change.  For historical value esp. if it includes a few searches.

Maybe that is right, but I have a dim recollection the freeforums site (without Tapatalk) had a switch to use the site in mobile mode.  Hazy memory on my part as I did not use it in that mode.

I suspect the change to adopt Tapatalk might be due to commercial reasons, (advertising and income streams) being presented as an improved user experience.

Earn More with Tapatalk

Tapatalk is not just a SaaS provider. We're committed to help you grow your revenue and audience. We work directly with all major advertising exchanges and networks to optimize your ad revenue and deliver high quality ads. Let Tapatalk manage the ad revenue for you through our revenue share program or keep full control of your ads by inserting your Ad Units.

If you're currently hosting and managing your own community and want to learn how you can earn more ad revenue than you get today with AdSense or other ad network, or want to stop the hassle of paying and managing forum infrastructure, Contact Us to see how Tapatalk Groups can help you.

When Tapatalk started, they promised to help forum owners of all sizes build heir own communities by offering a great app experience. As time went on, and they raised millions of dollars from private investors, they turned into a money hungry machine.

Their strategy seemed to shift. They went from creating the best product for forum owners and their users to figuring out how they could leverage their"man in the middle" status to build their OWN community and brand. And they did.

Under normal circumstances, I would congratulate them, but in the case of Tapatalk their practices bordered on pure exploitation. They"accidentally" indexed entire websites - including AndroidForums.com - as content on their own website. They"accidentally" placed in-app banners to download the Tapatalk app instead of our app. There were a lot of"accidents" that coincidentally had direct and incredible benefits for Tapatalk's bottom line.

As time passed, we realized Tapatalk built an empire at the expense of its subjects. We wanted out, so we spent the last year forging our own path.

I'm just lost is all I can say. My laptop shows

Looking now at my post  in advanced reply box . Using the preview function. My 1st top url is identified as"index.php" instead of ttps:// < I removed the the h in http to show the fill link now shown in the address bar when I come here. So the address is changed when I get here. Seems lots of control left out of my reach now.

I have not figured out how to mod yet in this new environment.  I have spent a couple of hours exploring this new interface, As usual. Un-informed change trips my pissed off trigger but hell. I either adapt or disappear.  Most of my time today was to try and see how to turn this crapola off. I don't have tapatalk installed on my android phone. Or my laptops. I don't run windows except to tune motorcycles.

So be patient while I relearn computers and the internet again. I miss chatbox.  I guess. I disappear for a few weeks and come back to major changes. Just like you guys. So me.

Having bigger real life issues currently in my life that take time priority presently.  Just noticed more smiley faces available. Like on my phone. testing:

Code: Select all

cat /etc/fstab
Just testing if a forum bug returned.

Me neither. I am logged in as admin. So probably a changed forum setting without asking us. I don't know yet where to look at to change that setting yet.
Problem is. I am stepping out for a bit after this post today. Maybe Anti or some other admin can change that setting from no to yes.

Edit: I went to freeforums.org and logged into my account there. Their default layout is tapatalk now also. So time to re-learn and adapt.,

If you find a way to switch to a non-mobile phone view, please post how to do it.

If this change to Tapatalk was truly for the benefit of the forum users, the choice would be available to everyone, not simply forcing the use of a mobile view without regard to personal preference.

Take it up with Tapatalk. There is nothing we at antiX can do about it. The same happened to Refracta forums.
