Did a frugal install on hard disk.

Up to now two small problems :
1, 'apt-get update' takes too long. It takes 5 minutes to get past :

Code: Select all

Connecting to debs.slavino.sk (2001:1ba0:2a0:5965:0:30:35:1)
2. skype gives

Code: Select all

Segmentation fault
Thank you for kind attention.
Please post an"inxi -F" report along with your issues. So far I haven't had any issues with skype, pulseaudio, or mplayer. Did your audio work before installing pulseaudio?

Two things I noticed this morning:

1) wired (using b44) did not connect OOTB running live, but did when I went through ceni. Is this intended to be so?
2) in metapackageinstaller, spacefm is installed by default but checking it (not greyed out) runs through the whole installation procedure until it says the same version is already installed. Again, not sure if this is intended to be this way.

Small stuff...

can you post an inxi -F pertaining to item 1.

as for 2 - the enchancements you are referring to were made by the mepiscr guys for mx-package-installer. they are not in the meta-installer currently in use on the antix iso.

Could solve my problems except for the very very slow 'apt-get update' :

Code: Select all

Connecting to debs.slavino.sk (2001:1ba0:2a0:5965:0:30:35:1)
'pulseaudio' was not installed. And downloaded 'skype' directly from Skype.

Have an i5

Code: Select all

inxi -F
System: Host: antiX1 Kernel: 3.19.1-antix.1-486-smp i686 (32 bit)
           Desktop: Fluxbox 1.3.5

Thank you.

OK. There is a skype installer in the meta-package installer (in accessories menu) that will pull down all skype dependencies, including pulseaudio. skype now requires it, and the deb from skype doesn't list it as a dependency. lazy packaging from microsoft.

In the future, the full inxi -F report could be useful, as it will list out sound card drivers and such as well, but likely not needed here. Thanks.

sorry I missed that. did you check prior to setting up your wireless or after? I'm going to try to duplicate that issue. I'm not having any problems here, but I haven't used ceni yet for it either.

I installed straight from the Live session, touching nothing. Wired was not connected. Installation showed wireless OOTB (just connected with Wicd), but today when I hooked up a cable and killed the wireless, I had to use ceni (which recognized the interface) to get eth0 to show up on Conky and to work.

I can try it Live with a cable to see if it shows up, if that would help. Lemme know.

EDIT: now in live session with a cable attached. Both interfaces show up in Wicd, and eth0 is connected and shows in Conky. Guess I needed to have rebooted after connecting the cable.

EDIT EDIT: booted into live again without cable. Nothing showed on Conky. Plugged in the cable, eth0 came up. So I conclude that if wlan0 has been selected previously with Wicd (and ceni?), then it is necessary to act manually.

Any body know if eject drive was left out of Icewm in right click menu.
I have no tool bar with this screen on the T23. Just in case it is left out.
Here is the inxi report on this unit.

I can shutdown and remove the drive. Just wondering if menu entry for unplug/eject drive was left out of beta right click icewm menu.

It is in the task bar roky.

@SamK - re links2 -g and mplayer.

I got both to work on an installed antiX by running both as sudo in a console. See if it works. I know it isn't supposed to be like that, but it might help us find a solution to this problem.
