Get it from here:

========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"https://sourceforge.net/projects/antix-linux/files/Testing/antiX-14R/"
linktext was:"https://sourceforge.net/projects/antix- ... antiX-14R/"
====================================

This is a 32 bit antiX-full using sysvinit (hence the V) and some repackaged debs for nosystemd ie cups, dbus etc
The iso is c701MB so users will have to overburn a cd so it fits.

* custom 3.19.1 kernel
* addition of alsa-sound-card to set up multiple sound cards
* debian Jessie set as default
* UEFI support on the live medium (no support yet in the installer)
* re-organised menu layout
* reorganised boot menu
* splash enabled at boot. To remove, press F7 and choose the no vga option
* improved localisation - but it still needs work
* many minor bugs squashed

Please test and post issues, comments at the forums.

A few odds and ends.

1. Boots and runs well. Only done VB install so far. Will be doing liveUSB testing later.

2. their are a couple of hiccups in the meta-package installer

a. firefox pulls from the mepiscr testing, which is OK, and installs, however it brings icedove with it and removes iceweasel. icedove does not get pulled in on MX, so not sure what's going on there. also, still has that annoying update message when there is an upstream update.

b. google-chrome installer fails. This is because the meta-installer can't have bm files with more than the one dash (which separate the category from the name that appears in the installer). just rename to Browser-Google_chrome_stable.bm and it works. No internal code change.

c. netflix-desktop doesn't work (dependency problems, silverlight)

d. pipelight doesn't work (dependency problem, silverlight).

e. skype leaves behind a deb file. add rm skype-install.deb to the bm file? similar is done in the google-chrome bm already.

3. Sound Card needs an icon for the menu.

4. Remove Menu Item - desktop shortcut removes from spacefm desktop but not from rox pinboard.

- does not remove existing personal menu items.

- added items do not show up in personal, but they do show up in the remove list, twice.

5. Add Menu Item - Shows up in Applications, but not in Personal.

- categories do not match menu.

6. Session Settings - consider fully commented user level files here similar to the global. At a minimum, files that need a shebang (startup) should have one by default.

7. Desktop>Session Settings menu entry does not open all the same files as the corresponding Control Centre entry.

8. consider placing a commented line about using the desktop-session startup entry instead of the various wm startup files.

9. Consider a wrapper script for Add Menu Entry and Remove Menu Entry, or at least rename them so they are in the same place in the menu. (Menu Entry - Add and Menu Entry- Remove for instance).

That's all for now.

***edit*** no menu entry for synaptic.

No love on the P3 IBM T23 with savage graphics.
inxi shows I am on vesa driver.
I tried everything from xrandr -s 1024x768 to using antixcc change video modes in the control center.

Image

My results above. Safe Boot graphics makes no difference with the /etc/X11/xorg.conf"safe" it writes during the boot process.
I am skilled enough to install since I have dealt with this before in previous tests.
If I leave the screen resolution alone. At 1280x1024.
post39155.html#p39155
post39361.html#p39361

Looks like I will have to work extra hard again at installing this beta also.
One good thing. The cpu was not hammering at 99% like before with a alpha
versions according to htop. So the vesa driver did at least cure that symptom.

Still crazy screen resolution though. Above photo was me trying to change it.
Bye for now.

male - the antiX15root is in the installer. We thought it a good idea for users to use labels for their partitions and we needed a default one. There is also an antix15home if user decides to have a separate home partition.
If user already has labelled partitions, then they can enter that instead of leaving the default.

Copying files to external drive via usb 1.1. External 1TB Passport took it;s time mounting on a P3 1gig ram IBM T23 but made it into /media. Not sure if my impatience using antixcc>drives>mount connected drives did the trick or what. All I know is Spacefm did not see my 1TB passport in the l/h side pane but I mounted OK via rox file filemanager in /media/sdc folder.

Slow copying using 1.1 ports though. Normal Bull____.
Connected up via Ceni on wpa2 wireless instead of using my normal method of wicd.
Ceni worked just fine live. Still dealing with 1280X1024 screen resolution on a 14 inch screen.

I am debating to make things easy peasy on my self to run the installer via a external monitor'
on a 22 inch Dell CRT I have in the M/C shop. It is raining and freaking chilly though.
No fun at all. __{{emoticon}}__ :

Thank you very much for providing this iso. Very nice job!

Did a frugal install on hard disk.

Up to now two small problems :
1, 'apt-get update' takes too long. It takes 5 minutes to get past :

Code: Select all

Connecting to debs.slavino.sk (2001:1ba0:2a0:5965:0:30:35:1)
2. skype gives

Code: Select all

Segmentation fault
Thank you for kind attention.

Further ...

Problems with 'pulseaudio' using mplayer

Code: Select all

AO: [pulse] Init failed: Connection refused
Failed to initialize audio driver 'pulse'
Anything I can do?
Thank you.
