Thanks for the post.

I'll see it to-morrow.

Just a detail : the"box" is in a room with my wife's computer connected in ethernet. The others (mine) must be in another room... then I use wifi.

Wifi has a bad reputation for security but I do with it because it fits with my needs.

Pierre, my friend, besides the obvious choice of trying to install the drivers also, you may try to ask for help in the Mepis forum

And as a last remembrance, there is the option to use the card's Windows driver with ndiswrapper.

Thanks very much.

At the moment I am with anoher forum and I don't want to disturb all of them at the same time.

Anyway, if I find the solution, I'll say it here.

Good Whitsun WE...

Good evening

Wicd doesn't work in wifi, I don't know the reason and I've been on the problem for several days.

Can I replace it by ceni ? Ceni is already installed but I don't know how to replace wicd by it.

Thanks

Open ceni and it should over-ride wicd settings.
Are you using antiX-M8 or antiX-M8-base?
If antiX-M8, ceni is in the control centre under Network->Configure network Interfaces.

If you use base version, then it is in the fluxbox menu under Admin/tools->Tools->Ceni-Network

Thanks

I have the"base".

I did it and it doesn't change anything. Wicd still is the network program and it has the same behaviour.

Can you give me please a solution, whatever, but which allows me to connect to a wifi network or an ethernet network, as Wicd doesn't run in wifi.

Thanks

and good night !

For ethernet, you should be able to just type in a terminal the following:
su
(your root password)
dhclient

Pierre, if you want to get rid of Wicd, open Synaptic, search for it and mark for complete removal. Or in Terminal:

Code: Select all

su
(password)
apt-get remove --purge wicd
Then got to

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false (MEPIS forums; antiX is based on it) and ask a question there. Say that you're using antiX-8 'base' and the model and make of your wireless card (the ones you posted here). Most certainly you'll get help and get your wireless to work.

The information in the wiki should help you get wifi working as well.

Thanks for your answer. I'll go there

If you know :

If I remove Wicd, will the program which served at the installation be retablished ? I don't know what it is. Does it treat wifi ?
